I just wanted to share a quick story about my 6 year old son. A few weeks ago I had to punish my son for a minor infraction by taking away his WII video game system for a week. In order to fill his time he decided to make necklaces ( beads on stretchy string) Around the same time he saw the ASPCA commercial featuring Sarah Mclaughlin. It literally left him in tears. He decided that he was going to sell his “neckalces” and donate the proceeds to the SPCA. Then recently, while listening to 610 in the car he heard about Chase and Jenn Utleys involvement with the ASPCA. Imagine how thrilled he was to find out that one of his favorite baseball players was involved and interested in something he was interested in! It’s so important to show kids that professional athletes ( or anyone famous) are interested in more than just their “sport”. Being a well rounded citizen of the world is more important then any amount of fame or accolades. Thanks for helping to reinforce this life lesson!

I’m a life-long devoted fan of baseball played the right way. It’s been my good fortune to live in the marketing area of many MLB teams and I’ve been privileged to watch many good men play the game. When my son turned 12, as a birthday present and the recognition of his love for the game, I bought him the Sunday Phillies season ticket package for the last year of Veteran’s Stadium. We’ve renewed each year, changing to a 17 game series D set. So I’ve watched Chase do it right virtually since the beginning of his major league career. My son and I are grateful for the hard work, dedication and committment.
