Surgery a success

Chase underwent successful surgery in New York yesterday. The procedure was done by Dr. Bryan Kelly at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Chase underwent his first therapy session this morning and is now heading back to Philadelphia where he will begin his rehab program.

Preliminary estimates put Chase’s return to baseball activities at three to four months, however Chase is optimistic that he will be ready for the season opener in 2009.

Yes, I’m interested in updates!

CHI AM VERY EXCITED TO HEAR THAT YOUR REHAB PROGRAM IS GOING WELL

Allison | on 15/12/08

Chase, I am glad to hear your rehab is going well. I had my right hip scoped last December here in Philly at the U of Penn by a doctor who studied under Kelly at HSS.

Please take it easy and do not push it even though you may be feeling great. I had a set back 6 weeks into recovery because I did something dumb! I feel better than before the surgery and have pain every once in a while but not like before.

I have a tear in my left hip as well, but will wait to have this one taken care of.

Good luck and please keep us updated.

Chase,

I am glad surgery went well and you’re on the road to recovery. I know how determined you are to get back into baseball shape by opening day, 2009 but please don’t push yourself too hard! Like Missy said, we want a healthy Chase Utley, not a hobbled one.

You are my favorite Phllie. I love your work ethic and the fact that you know that baseball is a TEAM sport, not an individual sport.

Question: Are you related to the NBC reporter, Garret Utley? I remember watching him when I was 10, 11, 12 years ofd in the late ’60’s, early 70’s.

dude, Im glad everything went well with your surgery-and I hope you take your time getting well. I want to see a strong Chase this season not a hurtin’ one. Thanks for pushing through to the end last season- it truely showed your perserverance in getting this league to a Championship! I expect to see some records set with your name on them! Get well- and see you at the ballpark healthy and ready to win another Championship !! hug, missyg

Chase! That’s incredible that the Phillies won the World Series, yay!! How does it feel to be the World’s Champs after 28 years? What an amazing accomplishment! I am so very happy to have heard that your hip surgery came out a success! I wish you well with your recovery over the next few months and look forward to seeing you play next season!
P.S. The Phillies came to San Diego (where I currently live) last year, to play, and a lot of people asked my husband if you two were related… They say somewhere you have a “twin” think you’re my husband’s.. Heehee :)

Wishing you a f**king speedy recovery. I hope I made you laugh. I was at Veterans Stadium when you were introduced as a new Philly. You were with your family. I feel like you are part of my family. Take care, little bro.

All the best with your rehab, Chase. I’m not a professional athlete but having the same nagging injury, I can’t imagine how you were able to tear around the bases and slide into home except you’re a lot tougher than any of us imagined. That will serve you well with your rehab and you’ll be back better than ever. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Jen.

Chase: Rehab takes patience. While we want you back to start the season, the most important thing is that you’re 100 percent healed when you do come back.

Jamie | on 25/11/08

Chase, I hope everything goes good with you rehab, and you’ll be back as soon as possible!
